Americans are in love with their national identity. Rarely do they consider what it means to be American. It merely means that you were born in the continental US, Alaska or
Hawaii. You may be a pot smoker and still be a respectable American; however the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana laws tells us that one in eight drug prisoners are in jail for pot. http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=7071+%0D++&wtm_format=printThat’s right folks pot is a crime and if you want to claim to be a good American then put down that joint. While Americans wax righteous about their liberties and freedom it is still a crime to smoke a joint in this country and there are still many people in prison behind pot crimes. But then we are #1 when it comes to making criminals of our population. The US has roughly 300 million people, yet we have more people in prison than china which has over 1 billion people. No we are not a police state. Raise your flag, vote and forget the facts. Keep pretending that wars of aggression abroad and repressive domestic policy are not the measure of a nation’s decency. It’s our love for American Idol that separates us from the rest of the world. What the hell is going on around here? I am tired of “patriots” with joints in their hand telling me that this is a great nation. They are fuckin criminals. Put down that joint and start fighting al-Qaeda. Ok, I don’t really feel that way, but hey facts are facts, the US has engaged in numerous wars of aggression, they have record numbers of their citizens in prison and you can’t even smoke a joint in this country with out being a criminal. Land of the free and home of the brave my ass. We need to clean up our own back yard! How the hell are we going to fix Afghanistan when we can’t even provide our citizens with affordable health care? Let’s not forget that when the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, opium production came to a halt but when the US took power there was a bumper crop of poppy. Selective amnesia that’s what “we the people” have, we remember what we like to remember and forget what is inconvenient to our patriotic sensibilities. Intellectual honesty is a rare thing to find. Let’s take this country back folks. Pot smokers are not your enemy and neither are the Afghanistan civilians who are breathing the smoke from DU munitions the US is throwing about their country. Reel in our hubris and self aggrandizing sense of Manifest Destiny. We are like 6% of the worlds population and we are consuming more like 35% of what is produced. THAT IS NOT SUSTAINABLE! Get off the high horse and face REALITY!
